T-Zone™ Broadleaf Herbicide for Tough Weeds
July 2009
PBI/Gordon Corporation is pleased to announce the EPA approval of their
new T-Zone™ Broadleaf Herbicide for Tough Weeds. T-Zone, containing
triclopyr, sulfentrazone and phenoxies which provide exceptional control
of tough broadleaf weeds in cool-season turfgrasses.
“T-Zone
will be marketed under our ProForm brand, Gordon’s line of fast-acting
herbicides with unique active ingredients. “Triclopyr gives
T-Zone an extra kick for controlling problem weeds like wild violets,” says
Obermann. “The “T” is triclopyr; the “Zone” is
the sulfentrazone which provides enhanced speed as well as yellow nutsedge
suppression” explains Obermann. Other weeds including ground
ivy, oxalis and black medic are also among the tough turf weeds controlled
by T-Zone.
T-Zone, like all the ProForm products, was developed to
provide the professional turf manager with a precision performance
tool to eliminate tough turf weeds – fast. “There are
a lot of triclorpyr users who have been waiting for this product,” says
Obermann. “With twice the amount of triclopyr that many competitive
products have, T-Zone will be immediately recognized in the marketplace
as premium product for weed control,” he said.
The ProForm line
of herbicides was introduced in 2001 as a brand for new products
offering unique solutions to the marketplace. Other ProFrom products
include SpeedZone®, PowerZone®, SpeedZone® Southern, Surge® and
Q4® all contain precise ratios of protox inhibitors with phenoxy
herbicides and dicamba. “The product line has become well known
for its enhanced speed and activity,” says Obermann. “T-Zone
is a great addition to the line.”
Limited T-Zone trial samples
will be available through distributors this summer; the product is
expected to be available for fall tough weed application.
